Growing up, its something we dream about as kids right? If we are a girl, maybe we dreamed about prince charming or a big beautiful wedding, or perhaps about the business we hoped to pursue.
A young boy might have dreamt of becoming a firefighter, father or maybe a well-known politician with power.
Growing up is both fun, exciting, painful and at times tiresome. We have to learn about being responsible, how our actions affect more than just us, and that love is actually a tricky dance.
Maybe you had a dream childhood where everything went perfectly, maybe you had a childhood where you only had to get burned once or twice to learn your lesson, or maybe you had a childhood straight out of a nightmare.
No matter what kind of childhood you had growing up, I’m sure through those years you had two different attitudes towards it.
One was “This is all so exciting, growing up and learning about how my world is shaping up! It’s all turning out so perfectly!”
And the second one being “This is so hard! How can anyone make all these decisions? This is all such a nightmare, and I’m more than likely going to fail!”
Now granted, you’re probably going to feel the second attitude more than the first simply because life is always going to throw you curveballs, especially at crucial times.
But the fact that we have a plan already laid out for us by God should help calm our
nerves, and that is where trust comes in.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper
you and not harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future”
Here in Jeremiah it is clear that God already has a plan for us, and not just some standard plan, but an amazing plan.
But, to receive this amazing plan we must first follow His will for our life, otherwise we will not receive this plan and sub-standardise our life.
So, is growing up sometimes tricky? Yes, but those times just prepare us for the long run and it exercises our trust in God.
